Look, I spend most of my week thinking about martinis, steak temp, and whether a burger deserves the hype. That’s the job. But I’ve got another thing going that has nothing to do with food, and everything to do with the same city I’m always writing about.
Still Streets
My brother-in-arms project is called Still Streets, and it’s a photography thing. The idea is simple. Every puddle in this city is holding a second version of New York in it, upside down, for about four seconds before a tire or a bus splashes through it and it’s gone. Same deal with subway grates after rain, wine glasses on a bar top, storefront glass at 3am when the block is dead quiet. New York keeps accidentally taking pictures of itself. I just started noticing and chasing it.
It is not a food blog. There is no martini in it, which honestly feels strange to type. But if you like the way I look at this city when I’m sitting at a bar seat, you’ll probably like the way I look at it through a puddle too.
