Picture this: it’s the first full football Sunday of the year. I’m way too lazy to cook, Monday meetings are looming like a hangover, and I need a pick-me-up. The natural choice? Chadwick’s.
One: they’ve got TVs. Two: the sound is on. Three: the food is always on point. And if you haven’t realized yet, I’ve got a bit of tism in me, I like getting the exact same meal every time, in one of two seats, and enjoying the comfort of that ritual.
This night it was Bills football, and the game was wild. They came back like there was no tomorrow. My favorite bartender was working chill guy,…. I forgot his name, ( Im horrible with names like not joke, I can tell you about his kids and carreer before chadwicks name nope not happening) who likes to crack quick jokes, bust my chops for ordering the same thing, and keep it moving. Normally, my go-to order is baked clams, filet mignon (medium rare), and the apple tart. But plot twist: they were out of clams.

Last Minute Change
adapt and overcome. I pivoted to a classic wedge salad topped with thick-cut bacon (the best way to eat a salad). Added a small side of ravioli stuffed with roasted peppers in vodka sauce, surprisingly solid. Then came the filet mignon, cooked perfectly medium rare, just like always. It hit the spot. The onion ring on the side wasn’t necessary, but hey, it makes for a good picture. Speaking of, I threw in a shot of the apple tart too — flaky dough, single-serving size, and some ice cream on the side. A proper finish.

A couple martinis, the usual espresso, and the night was set. That’s why I keep coming back to Chadwick’s. It’s homey, it’s close, and it works. Even if I roll in right before closing, they’ll feed me as long as the kitchen’s open. No rush, no pressure. Just classic Brooklyn hospitality: personable staff, no politics, and plenty of sports talk.
A quick side note: if you order the Filet Mignon, know it’s got asparagus. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You know what will smell for a bit
I’ve been going here for 20 years, maybe longer. It’s the kind of place that keeps earning its spot. And now, I’m probably starting a new series: Steakhouses with TVs. Because let’s be real — sometimes the best way to catch a Yankees–Mets game isn’t at the stadium with $400 tickets, shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers. It’s at a steakhouse bar with air conditioning, a martini, and a steak. That’s my kind of night.
All theses reasons are more are why Chadwick’s is in my Top Ten Steakhouses
