There are some days where you just need a reset.
Not a spa day. Not yoga. Not somebody telling you to protect your peace.
You need a steak, a martini, a Yankees game on TV, and a bartender who understands the assignment.
That is how I ended up back at Chadwick’s in Bay Ridge. If you have not read my original Chadwick’s review, start there. Then come back here for round two.
I have always been a big fan of Chadwick’s. It is one of those dependable neighborhood spots where you can sit at the bar, watch the Yankees, decompress from life, and know the food is going to hit every single time. It has earned a permanent spot on my Best Restaurants in NYC list for exactly this reason.
The bartenders are friendly, the drinks are solid, and the whole place has that old school Brooklyn comfort to it. No gimmicks. No influencer nonsense. Just good food, good service, and people minding their business while quietly rooting for the Yankees.
Breaking the Routine
Normally I order the exact same thing every visit.
Baked clams, extra bread, filet mignon, and the apple tart.
At this point it is less of an order and more of a ritual.
But this time they had a Beef Wellington special and honestly it looked too good to pass up.
Single portion, wrapped beautifully in golden pastry, sliced perfectly down the middle with mashed potatoes, string beans, and rich gravy that hit exactly the way gravy should after a long week.
The beef was perfectly medium rare and the pastry somehow stayed crisp the whole time, which honestly deserves respect because soggy Wellington is culinary betrayal.
The only thing that would have made it better would have been asparagus, but I skipped appetizers and suddenly started pretending vegetables mattered.

Dessert Because Self Control Was Never an Option
I finished with the apple tart and vanilla ice cream because some traditions deserve protection under federal law.
Still one of my favorite desserts there.
Although if the house made gelato is available, that is always a dangerous temptation too.
Warm tart, cold ice cream, Yankees baseball playing in the background, martini buzz settling in peacefully. Honestly, that is Brooklyn therapy right there.

Final Verdict
Chadwick’s remains one of my favorite comfort spots in Bay Ridge.
Great bartenders, consistently solid food, relaxed steakhouse atmosphere, and the kind of place that reminds you why neighborhood restaurants still matter.
Sometimes you do not need the newest hot restaurant in Manhattan. Sometimes you just need a good seat at the bar, a properly cooked steak, and a Yankees win.
As always, what do I know? I am just a fat guy from Brooklyn trying to survive the week, one martini at a time.
