COQODAQ is one of those places I probably wouldn’t have gone to on my own. Not because I don’t like nuggets. I love nuggets. Nuggets are life. It’s more the whole reservation Olympics thing. You know me. I don’t hunt reservations. I outsource that activity like a true New Yorker.
Thankfully, the ladies insisted, and for once, they were absolutely right.
We went for brunch as part of my ongoing birthday celebrations. I’m old, everything hurts, and brunch feels like the responsible choice when you still want to party but also need to sit down immediately.
We did the Chef’s Signature Brunch, a $52 prix-fixe that is easily one of the funkier brunch experiences in NYC, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s different, creative, and surprisingly filling.
The Brunch Spread
This brunch comes out almost tapas-style, which keeps things moving and keeps you interested.
- French Toast Soldiers: Thick-cut French toast meant for dipping into vanilla cream. Dangerous. Could eat six orders alone.
- Hash Browns with Salmon Roe & Chopped Salmon: Crispy, salty, rich, and honestly one of the sneakily best bites of the meal.
- Deviled Eggs: Simple, clean, and exactly what deviled eggs should be.
- Umami Kimbap: Absolutely incredible. Full stop. One of the standout dishes.
- Croquettes & Additional Small Bites: All solid, all well-executed.

The Stars of the Show
The Signature Fried Chicken is why you’re here. Do yourself a favor and get the regular chicken, then add all the sauces. They give you plenty, and it’s way easier to build flavors than commit to just one. More garlic? Add sauce. Want spice? Add sauce. Group dining approved.
The Golden English Muffin with Canadian Bacon and Omelette deserves its own moment. This was hands down one of the most luscious, creamy, indulgent omelettes I’ve ever had. The muffin soaked everything up perfectly. If McDonald’s ever figured this out, civilization would collapse.

Yes, We Got the Caviar Nuggets
Because obviously we did.
The Caviar Nuggies are exactly as ridiculous and luxurious as they sound. We went with the 24K option, and honestly… it’s an experience. Over-the-top? Yes. Worth doing at least once? Also yes.

Drinks, Service & Vibes
The service was surgical. Everything came out perfectly timed, no mistakes, no awkward pauses. The sommelier knew the champagne list inside and out. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly very dialed in.
We tried the egg cocktail. Interesting. Not my personal favorite, but it worked in context.
The space itself is gorgeous, very much in line with COQODAQ’s sister restaurant COTE. It may not look like massive portions on paper, but trust me, you’ll be full by the end.
Also, small but important note: the champagne glasses are aggressively delicate. I have bear paws for hands, so watching me try not to shatter stemware was probably entertainment for the entire room.
Final Verdict
COQODAQ is absolutely worth it. The food, the service, the precision, the creativity. It’s fun, it’s different, and it delivers on the hype.
Would I personally fight for a reservation? No.
Would I happily go back if someone else does the work? Immediately.
Funky, indulgent, and genuinely special. COQODAQ understood the assignment.
As always, what do I know? I’m just a fat guy from Brooklyn. if you want more Top 10s—steakhouses, burgers, restaurants, you name it—click the words and keep going.
