So I’m coming back from Yankee Stadium after a loss (Read Here), still hungry, slightly annoyed, and in need of something stronger than optimism. That write-up is its own disaster story for another day.
Instead, I did what any rational adult would do: I rerouted for food and martinis.
Enter Le Rock, a French spot sitting right in Rockefeller Center. Call it bougie, call it polished, call it “maybe I should’ve changed out of my Yankees jersey”… but I had Blackbird points to burn, and hunger doesn’t care about dress codes.
The Vibe: Slightly Underdressed, Fully Committed
Walking in, I immediately realized I was not dressed for the occasion. Think business casual meets “I own more than one blazer.” Meanwhile, I’m coming off a baseball game like I just got traded mid-season.
That said, the space? Beautiful. Clean, modern, a little sexy without trying too hard. There’s even outdoor seating that’s perfect for people-watching when the weather cooperates.
Inside, it’s all polished energy, no tourist chaos, which is honestly shocking for Rockefeller Center. The crowd was mostly business types and people who definitely iron their shirts.
The Game Plan (a.k.a. Controlled Chaos Ordering)
I couldn’t go full “usual order,” but I got close enough:
- Tuna TareTar
- Pea salad ( forgot the name and couldn’t find it)
- Steak frites
- Profiteroles (yes, I figured out the name… eventually)
- Two martinis, because I believe in consistency

Cocktails: Therapy in a Glass
Let’s start where it matters.
Martinis were solid. Dirty, cold, exactly what I needed after watching the Yankees lose. No blue cheese olives, which hurt a little emotionally, but we adapt.
Espresso martini? Also solid. Did its job, kept me awake, and slightly more optimistic about life.
They’ve got a signature super-chilled martini situation going on, too. I don’t remember the exact name (shocking, I know), but it was good. Translation: I’d order it again.
The Food: Hits, Misses, and “Still Worth It”
Tuna TareTar
Light, clean, a little salty in the right way. Avocado puree added a nice smooth contrast. Solid start. No complaints.
Pea Salad ( Shrug honestly, can’t remember the name)
I didn’t expect much here, but this thing surprised me. It was technically a salad, but let’s be honest, it was mostly cheese with a few vegetables trying to stay relevant. Flavor was great. Fiber achieved. Moving on.
Steak Frites
Fries? Fantastic. Crispy, addictive, doing exactly what fries should do.
Steak? Cooked properly, but the cut itself was a little tough. Not a dealbreaker, sometimes you just get that one piece that didn’t read the assignment. Still enjoyable overall.
Profiteroles (Yes, I Googled It Later)
Chocolate-filled, soft, and indulgent. Personally, I wanted a bit more texture, something with a little crunch to balance it out, but that’s a preference, not a flaw.

Blackbird App: The Sneaky MVP
Quick side note for those who don’t know: Blackbird is basically a cheat code.
You check in, spend money, and rack up rewards. It stacks too—so you hit one reward, then roll it into the next.
End result? You feel like you gamed the system while eating steak and drinking martinis. Math never tasted so good.
Final Verdict: Worth It (Even in a Yankees Jersey)
Le Rock isn’t somewhere I’m sprinting to every weekend—but it’s absolutely a solid play.
- Great space
- Strong cocktail program
- Food that mostly hits
- And a reliable “reset button” after a bad game
Would I go back? Yes.
Would I dress slightly better next time? Also yes.
And if I’m being honest… I’m probably ordering the burger next time. I saw it. I thought about it. I made a decision. I regret that decision.
As always, what do I know? I’m just a fat guy from Brooklyn trying to survive the week, one martini at a time. If you want more Top 10s steakhouses, burgers, restaurants, you name it, click the words and keep going.
